Adoptions

It goes without saying that when you choose to adopt a rescue or surrendered pet, you are saving a life.  In reality though, you're helping to make space for us to help others, to provide room and the opportunity for another rescue to become someones beloved pet.

Choosing to adopt gives these precious animals another chance at life.  In most circumstances you have an advantage of getting a well established animal.  This can mean fewer costs for such things as enclosures and purchasing different sized prey items.  Quite often, an adult snake already has an established personality so you can kind of skip the youth phases.

By adopting you are supporting continued rescue efforts, and our ability to tend and care for those that we rescue, along with all of the efforts that go into finding homes. And your actions can also be an encouragement to others to adopt.

General Guidelines

Taking on a rescue is a bit more of a process as we want to make sure the animal is going to the "right" home.

We will verify various different things such as making sure you have the proper enclosure for the animal you wish to adopt. We will establish that you have an understanding of the care requirements such as temperature and humidity, and make sure you are aware of any special needs a particular animal has.  We will make sure that you have reached out or researched things such as rodent suppliers, vet services or other things that may be needed to care for your new pet.

We will also check local regulations and laws to make sure you are actually able to keep the animal where you live as some cities and counties do have restrictions on what types of reptiles may or may not be allowed.

During the adoption process we may recommend items that you may need to obtain or that may be required to properly keep the animal.  Failure to obtain these items or something that meets the need may affect the adoption process.

Adoption fees will vary for each animal and are calculated based on care factors, health checkups and administrative costs we have incurred taking the animal in as a surrender.  These fees are generally (but not always) less than it would cost to obtain the animal otherwise.

These fees are considered as a donation to allow us to continue our efforts in providing these types of services to the community.

Please note that for some animals there may be an Adoption application fee required.  This application fee will be a non refundable fee and will be based on the volume of requests for a particular animal.  If applicable this fee will be minimal and disclosed at the start of the adoption process.
